I am going to Haiti—Update!

It looks like I'll be leaving for Haiti on or around April 15th. I'll be there with a team of three other acupuncturists. So far, our team will be there for 8 days. We are scheduled to work in the General Hospital, as well as a couple of other private venues that are housing displaced citizens of Haiti.

In most disaster situations, acupuncturists can be of greatest support beginning several weeks after the disaster, once the people most affected have water, shelter, food, and immediate medical care. When these emergency needs are taken care of, the next critical need is for the people who have been traumatized to be able to function once again physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Volunteer acupuncturists will go to Haiti to treat survivors, relief workers, emergency responders and all who are suffering from trauma. —Acupuncturists Without Borders

I believe in the power of the work that we do, and am honored to be selected to be of service for this necessary cause. I am asking for your support to help fund my trip to Haiti. My goal is to raise at least $3,000 to cover the cost of airfare, housing, food and supplies. There are a couple of ways in which you can contribute:

**1.**Send in a contribution. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. You can make a check out to Doris Johnson or Heart Soul Institute and send it to 1736 Westwood Blvd. #202, Los Angeles, CA 90024.

2. If you want to make a tax-deductible contribution, Acupuncturists Without Borders (AWB) has a program where you can donate directly to them and earmark the funds for my trip. They will give me 90% of the funds and use the other 10% for administrative costs. You can either send me a check made out to Acupuncturists Without Borders or visit www.acuwithoutborders.org to pay by credit card. Follow the prompts to donate to Haiti. There will be a memo box where you can indicate that your donation is to be earmarked for Doris Johnson's trip to Haiti. If you prefer to send a check, make it out to Acupuncturists Without Borders and send it to Heart Soul Institute (at the address above). I will forward all info and checks to AWB, and they will send you a tax-deductible receipt in the mail.

3. Attend the Community Acupuncture Clinics. The next clinic is this Saturday from 3-5 at Heart Soul Institute, and all proceeds collected will go toward what has been dubbed the Haiti Kitty. The treatment you will receive is the same protocol that we will be using in Haiti. Please come and experience the efficacy of this protocol, while at the same time making a contribution to the volunteer efforts.

Yours In Service and In Health,

Doris-Owanda
