dambisamoyo.com: “In fact, poverty levels continue to escalate and growth rates have steadily declined—and millions continue to suffer. Provocatively drawing a sharp contrast between African countries that have rejected the aid route and prospered and others that have become aid-dependent and seen poverty increase, Moyo illuminates the way in which overreliance on aid has trapped developing nations in a vicious circle of aid dependency, corruption, market distortion, and further poverty, leaving them with nothing but the “need” for more aid.”

“WGBH American Experience—Ida B. Wells—A Passion for Justice”

pbs.org/wgbh/: “Ida B. Wells—A Passion For Justice is the story of a fiercely independent spirit, Ida B. Wells, a 19th-century leader in the struggle against racism and sexism. Born into slavery in a small town in Mississippi, Wells became a schoolteacher, a journalist and led a life-long crusade against lynching. The film is in large measure based on Wells’ own memoir, portions of which are read on camera by writer Toni Morrison.” It is deeply disappointing to find out that this film by William Greaves is not in DVD format.
