Amazon.com Q3/Q4 2006 Highlights
I’m pretty sure the last time we did this was for Q1/Q2 2006—and it seems that our mutual appreciation for each other has not diminished! You know who you are! Was that a hug? Did we just hug right then? So, while we are gushing, let me first send my appreciation to the person who picked up an Xbox 360 Core System through kintespace.com, its affiliation with Amazon.com! When you are going to participate in mainstream culture, at least you can do it to the benefit of our collective! That’s a stone tribal move!
A direct move was a purchase of The Color of Fascism: Lawrence Dennis, Racial Passing, and the Rise of Right-Wing Extremism in the United States—this clearly was based on our groundbreaking interview with Dr. Gerald Horne. This purchasing power is what keeps kintespace.com going! You may notice that we don’t hit you over the head with advertising (relatively speaking) and we would like to contribute to a mood of relative grace and relative subtlety in the online world of advertising and corporate sponsorship. Your constructive responses to this effort show me that this move is very promising!
A very interesting trend (last quarter) for kintespace.com supporters making purchases at Amazon.com is their interest in what Amazon calls “Third Party” products. I am certain that this “Third Party” support would be a new chapter in André Schiffrin’s book, The Business of Books: How the International Conglomerates Took Over Publishing and Changed the Way We Read. Here are some notable “Third Party” titles purchased by people supporting kintespace.com:
- Adam Where Are You?: Why Most Black Men Don’t Go to Church (Q4 2006)
- The Secret Sales Pitch: An Overview of Subliminal Advertising (Q4 2006)
- Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization (Exploding the Myths) (Q4 2006)
- From Babylon to Timbuktu: A History of the Ancient Black Races Including the Black Hebrews (Q3 2006)
- Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get (Q3 2006)—this one surely is inspired by “lines in the rasx context: Afterbirth and 1970s”Q1 2007 is already going strong but there are more Amazon.com sales than “Third Party” sales so far. Interesting stuff…

I soon will be joining the affiliate ranks (ie Yahoo!, Google). Judging from your results, I should connect with Amazon too. What sort of scripts are required for Amazon inclusion? I wonder if it will work well w/Movable Type. Probably will have to do a bit of hacking.

Amazon.com is all about being user friendly! Start with their Blog: http://affiliate-blog.amazon.com/.
I do not recommend iTunes for the slow servers and the non-direct relationship with Apple. Your audience should be more affluent than the "artsy" kinté space visitors so you should see more casual purchases through Amazon.com.
