Today’s Links to Human Beings

Ethan Winer

Carl Franklin is not just chubsy-ubsy lover of VB.NET. He is also an excellent digital sound engineer and a trained musician. So when he recommends some guy named Ethan Winer, his link must go into my database. A quote from his magazine articles page: “Over the years I have written more than 60 feature articles for the fields of audio recording, electronics, music, and computer programming. These articles have appeared in publications such as PC Magazine, Audio Media, Microsoft Systems Journal, Mix, Electronic Musician, Strings, Programmers Journal, The Strad, Recording, and many others. Following are some of the articles that are still relevant to today's technology.”

Betty Davis, Nasty GalBetty Davis

Betty Davis was MilesDavis’ girlfriend. You could call it a “mid-life crisis” sort of thang but she may also represent the primordial soup from which Madonna eventually rolled out of… It seems certain to me that lovers of Miles and his cool jazz period, those that hate his electric period, would make Betty Davis into the Yoko that “broke up the band” and made Miles “lose his mind” and attach a wah-wah to his trumpet in a desperate attempt to “catch up” with Jimi Hendrix.

I’m looking forward to finding a documentary about architect Nader Khalili. Since he is an Iranian American, and his listing on Internet Movie Database is rather thin, my second bet is on Michelle Kaufmann. Both of these people are “environmentally sensitive” architects. They might have something to teach me about ‘alternative real estate.’

It may offend Dr. Moira Gunn to mention an Iranian and Michell Kaufmann in the same paragraph, but I’m sure she would appreciate yet another link to her Tech Nation interview of Ms. Kaufmann.
