Cutting MP3 Tracks
The latest audio production here at kintespace.com is Ashanti Alston: Black Anarchism. This was prepared on (yes, let’s write this one more time) ‘my new Dell Inspiron 6400.’ Installing a fresh copy of Sony SoundForge freed me up to revitalize the way MP3 tracks are cut. So here are refresher notes:
- Generate a source file that can store regions.
- Generate regions with keyboard shortcuts.
- Name each Region based on listening to the content.
- Use Wave Hammer and Clipped Peak Restoration presets in the Plug-In Chainer on the entire source file.
- Select a region with keyboard shortcuts.
- Use the Edit > Selection > Snap Edge to Zero command (Shift + Z) with the selection. This is faster than using Fade In/Out processing and is less prone to error.
- Drag and drop the selection into the Workspace to generate a new file.
- Encode the file in MP3 format using a custom Template.
