Degrees of Separation from Johnny Cochran

Now Mr. Johnny Cochran and I are infinitely separated by his initiation into a world beyond the stars. But just a few years ago, I could say the following:

• Johnny Cochran and I were definitely suspicious of the racial inspiration behind the “Chewbacca Defense.” It’s still funny enough to mention here but still… you never know about the snickering of a few sophomoric smart-asses—and they like it that way. Matt and Trey you dudes are funny about the problems but I am sure you have no solutions—can I borrow $50?
• The afro-female, therapist of the mother of my second child shared the same office building with Johnny Cochran—moreover, my lawyer sister, ex-intimate (who also passed away) briefly, years ago, shared the same building with these two as well. (It might help to mention that I met the lawyer years before the mother—and she was a corporate lawyer far from family law.)
• Johnny Cochran was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. My grandmother, the mother of my mother is also from Shreveport, Louisiana—the city she pronounces like what I interpreted as a child as “sweet port”—what a pleasant destination…So let’s see Mr. Johnny Cochran in a better place, harboring thick sweet blackness with no O.J. cops with German last names.
