JVC Everio Hell

Buy this product at Amazon.com!Welcome to JVC GZ-HD7 Everio hell. This is the place where Windows users who are not prepared for High-Definition video file formats go. In this hell, there is no Everio software. It’s unavailable. It’s not my camera. There is a tool out there called Converio but evidently you have to pay to try it out. “CONVERIO is a software for Microsoft Windows XP, 2K and Vista. It was created for camcorder JVC EVERIO (Gz-mc500, Gz-mc200, Gz-mc100, and the series G like Gz-mg20 or Gz-mg70). It also functions for Panasonic Sdr-s100/150, DVDCam (.VOB and .IFO extension).” Nice, but the concern for spyware is not far.

People on the Mac are having a ball: “I love the new JVC GZ-HD7! Actually suprised me! The workflow with the hard drive will take some getting used to, but once the plugin for quicktime/Final Cut Pro/Imovie was installed on the Mac, I was VERY VERY impressed with the 1920x1080 picture…” The plug-in is installed from the software that shipped with the camera.

Buy this book at Amazon.com!According to the company behind my years-long Vegas Video investment, we have: “Vegas 6.0 and Vegas Movie Studio+DVD Platinum Edition added support for capturing direct from HDV devices with no additional software required. The video is captured as .m2t files, which can be placed directly on the timeline for editing.”

Simultaneously, it is possible to “transcode” JVC Everio *.TOD files into traditional MPEG files: “With my setup; 3GHz & 2GB mem and nothing running in the background, a folder with about 10GB worth of .TOD files takes about 10-15 min. to transcode to .MPG using the included Cyberlink software. NOW, thats just to transcode.”

JVC Everio produces the mod, moi or tod files that most video endiitg program won't support directly like windows movie maker or imovie, etc. while FCE , Sony Vegas is too expensive if you are under budget.personally i use iorgsoft mod converter and iorgsoft tod converter to deal with JVC Everio files, the program will simply convert mod/tod to avi, mpg, wmv, mov, flv,mpeg-4 etc so that i can use them on windows movie maker, it works like a charm. hope this would be helpful. there are also Mac version program .
