Today’s News: Women Make More Money than Men

Have mercy on me, you graduates of Women’s Studies. I have no idea what the name Warren Farrell means to you nor is there some default respect for the work of the Cato Institute. According to the Cato Institute, their book forum entitled “Why Men Earn More: The Startling Truth Behind the Pay Gap—and What Women Can Do About It,” we have:

Warren Farrell, the only man to have been elected three times to the National Organization for Women’s New York board of directors…

Here is the provocative statement: men deserve to be paid more than women. After you ladies get through with your anti-patriarchal, patriarchal, war-like rage reaction, please recognize that I’m not the guy that betrayed you and look carefully at this Farrell fact: most or all of deaths on the job happen to males.

Also: males are more likely to move to a new city for a job. Also: males are more likely to work longer hours. Are you jumping ahead of me now? Do you get it? Properly-assimilated American males mistake money for power and effectively sacrifice vast amounts of personal power in exchange for economic gain. According to Warren Farrell (and me), we do this in order to be respected and accepted by women. To most women unfortunately and with profound sadness, what the previous sentence means is that most of us males are fools. First of all, there really isn’t such a thing as “women” in organized group terms. Gail Evans, of CNN executive fame warns all of us:

Women don’t know team work... It’s not us against them... it’s us against us!

The women are smarter because the pay gap comes from relatively holistic lifestyle choices that reduce earning power but increase personal power. The number one reason for these moves is because women in the workplace still have children (or plan to). But, before we slip into a coma and assume that women in the workplace of advanced industrialized countries are ‘wise,’ Warren Farrell repeatedly warns us that too many of these women do not marry wisely. Some women still use archaic, patriarchal decision-making skills when they choose a mate. As one sister said to me years ago, she wants a man she can “look up to.” This effectively means she wants a man to make more money than she does. For a professional, white-collar North American woman this could actually mean that, in order to walk down the aisle, the brother has to be a multimillionaire. What happens too often in the real world is that these white-collar women hang on to several, low-pay guy friends—on the down low—while the bio-clock ticks for Mr. Right Dollar, the trophy husband.

However, it took me way too long to understand some basic realities about the real-world results of the sexual revolution: these white-collar women don’t look to their trophy husband for financial support. Most women do not respect or value men with a work ethic any more than I respect another guy’s ability to grab cash with discipline. When I had a roommate in college, I was just glad that he could pay for room and board—so my friends won’t laugh at me for being tricked by a freeloader.

We men are more likely to be seen as an industrial competitor by women than as a natural compliment. In fact, Warren Farrell tells us that, when you select for over 20 different statistical characteristics, women win the earnings competition. Women make more money than men as disconnected individuals—but in the aggregate there is the famous pay gap. This means, according to the popular egocentric ‘wisdom,’ women do make more money than men. As long as you care solely about the world of the upper classes, women (like Negroes) are doing just fine. Problem solved.

Now, speaking of fine, Warren Farrell reports that our Mr. Right Dollar selects for youth and beauty. In the worst case of trophy wifing, Mr. Right Dollar premeditates pouring lavish material wealth on what Farrell calls a “genetic celebrity.” So you have an almost perfect storm of egotistical misery and “mysterious” loneliness for the ladies—while the dudes have spectacular, super-fine Jim Brown problems. Since “civilization” as we know it would end in a world without Jim Brown problems, my bet is on the ladies making a change…

One proposed solution for our white-collar ladies is Mr. Mom. Somehow, anti-patriarchal, patriarchal women have to journey through a fundamental shift in consciousness to remove this confusion related to imperial concepts of domination and submission. They have to find a compliment in a life partner—not a superior. Remember guys: white-collar women don’t look to men for financial support—but they want to get with a dude that makes more money than they do. Do you understand the feminine nuance here? Have you felt the reactions women friends get when they hear that lucky girl is going to share her life with a “rich” man? This is not gold digging, folks—this is the acquisition of a complete product (batteries included, no assembly required). Do you know how proud lucky girl’s mother is going to be?

Robert Scoble interviewed a very popular guy, according to the New York Times bestseller list, in “Work only four hours a week with Tim Ferriss.” Tim Ferriss has a plan for emancipation. Not to be a Ferriss naysayer, but my savage guess is that most people will not listen to the respect for metrics in the Tim Ferriss message and end up outsourcing too much—even their sex lives. The sex tourism industry will compete with the ‘sex migration’ industry. Instead of a new Australian penal colony, there will be matrimonial green zones scattered all over the world populated with mixed children (one parent with financial power, the other formally and systematically outsourced as an email-order spouse). The parent with the dough can visit a few months out of the year and then return to the work zone and the day job. This is already happening now but my view is that this ‘lifestyle zone’ will only get more popular among the affluent—of both sexes.
