MSDN Behind-the-Scenes Media Stories Still Untold (to Me)

Am I the only one who has not heard about what the hell happened to the many “rich” media offerings for Microsoft developers? I’m looking for more than a generic explanation about how “shows” get “cancelled” at MSDN. A ‘generic’ explanation is something like, “Microsoft is business and we make internal decisions that at times have an unforeseen public impact.” So I’m feeling the impact of these bullets:

  • VBTV was archived on January 5, 2005. Does Ari Bixhorn have a freakin’ Blog? Did he ever say anything publicly about why his show was cancelled?
  • The .NET Show vanished after PDC 2005. I’m deleting them from my OPML set now… There. Hey! Wow! Gee! There a new sassy offering called The Show On 10. Any relation? Somehow?
  • DotNetRocks is archived on MSDN but is not clearly tied to Channel9 for some reason based on a strange definition of context. Carl and Richard are too professional and stuff to “whine” about this one. So I will do it for them. There should be an RSS feed on that MSDN page! Past DotNetRocks shows should also appear under the Podcasts section of Channel9. What’s strange is that now there is something called ARCast on MSDN. Hmm…
