ST. LOUIS NATIVE Chris Hayden is a board member of First Civilizations, Inc. and a Contributing Editor to Take Five Magazine. His poems have appeared in Drumvoices, Break Word with the World, Ever Dancing Muse, Black Thought, Intermission Magazine, Riverking Poetry Supplement, Ever Dancing Muse, and in the e-zines Eat Poop and Eccentricity. His poem, “The Quiet Zone” appeared in the anthology Ain’t But A Place, edited by Gerald Early.

The one piece we have here underscores yet again that hip-hop can continue to develop its literary quality. Chris should encourage those rappers and rhythm rhymers that are also serious writers who can make every flowing syllable have meaning in the sound of the music and on the printed page.
